Anaheim settles discrimination case with former city attorney

The City of Anaheim has settled a lawsuit commenced by its former city attorney, Christine Talley, after she was forced to resign her position in 2013. The pressure to resign apparently arose out of a lawsuit commenced by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) that challenged Anaheim's system of electing its city council members.

Wrongful termination lawsuit brought against actress's company

Workers who have been wrongfully terminated may have legal options to consider that may help during a difficult time. A former vice president for actress Kate Hudson's athletic wear company recently brought a lawsuit in Los Angeles against the company for wrongful termination. The woman asserts she was fired while on medical leave to treat an addiction to Ambien because the actress's company likely mistakenly concluded she was being treated for an addiction to illegal drugs. The former vice president is also suing the athletic wear company's parent company.

TV anchor pursues sexual harassment charges against her boss

Another prominent television personality has come forward with allegations of sexual harassment by her superior. This time, the victim is Karla Amezola, a news anchor for Estrella TV; the defendants are Lieberman Broadcasting, Inc., the owner of Estrella, and Andrés Angulo. The lawsuit was filed in June 2016 in Los Angeles Superior Court, but the case is just now drawing significant attention after another anchor from Estrella, Adriana Ruggiero, brought a lawsuit in which she alleged similar acts of sexual harassment.

San Diego State sued by former coach for wrongful termination

College athletic coaches do not seem to have much job security; their firings are a common occurrence. Nevertheless, coaches are subject to the same laws and have the same rights as other employees. A recent jury verdict in a wrongful termination lawsuit brought by the former head coach of women's basketball at San Diego State shows that even a head coach cannot be fired for an improper reason.
